What is Freelancing Mums?

Freelancing Mums offers well-researched information, practical resources and welcoming events to give a friendly helping hand to over-stretched mums (and dads) trying to juggle freelancing with family life.

Freelancing Mums came out of my personal experience of starting freelancing as a mum - and realising how different it was to my work both as a freelancer and an employee before I had kids. It also draws on my decade of experience of working with government, businesses and community groups across the UK to help parents combine their work and family life.

Much of my freelancing life is impacted by my kids – whether that’s organising childcare to get to meetings, working through the night so we can have family mealtimes or that big dose of imposter syndrome that decided to join in with my maternity leave.

I love being a freelancing mum but it’s not easy and I definitely don’t have all the answers. However, if Freelancing Mums can make it even a touch simpler for another freelancing mum, I’ll feel it’s been a success.

Can I get involved with Freelancing Mums?

Freelancing Mums is only me right now, in my spare time with an occasional helping hand from a few other amazing freelancers. I’m trying my best to build content on this site as quickly as I can - although that work / family life juggle can get in the way from time to time.

I’d love to hear from you if you’ve got ideas of how to develop Freelancing Mums, whether that is expanding the current content or a completely new project. I really do want it to be a useful community for freelancing mums.
